Mike's first few days home

First we want to thank the people who came by on Saturday to hand out with Mike and allow us to say "thanks" for all your help in modifying the house and for those few who had the biggest part in planning the 2008 Gotz Strength Golf Tournament! We had a nice time and thank you also to Joe and Taylor and Skipper for staying late to help clean up!

We appreciate ALL of Mike's friends and family and neighbors for EVERYTHING that they have done, big or small, for the past 8 months and hope to continue to have your support!

Mike is off to a restful start at home. He has a visiting nurse attending his wound twice a week and reports that it continues to heal nicely. She is also looking into another form of personal care assistant for Mike to have daily since the first one wasn't what he was looking for. He has been fitted into his new custom chair which looks amazing and is getting used to the new fit! It has a wonderful lift feature which assists in others helping him into bed, chairs, shower chair, etc.

The rehab hospital called today and reported some great news that the virus Mike was told he had when he was discharged, will NOT prevent him from attending physical therapy, so hopefully he will start going again as soon as later this week or next week!

Dad will be heading to Daytona all of next week (Feb. 27-March 6) but Mike will be staying at home with our mom. Please stop by if you have time for a visit on the weekend or any weeknight!

Kim,

Thanks for posting this informative update on Mike. Your mom told me about the gathering of thanks on Saturday - wonderful. You will certainly have our support and anything else that is needed always. It is fantastic to hear that Mike is not only home and happy with the visiting care he needs - but that the persistent virus will not pose further problems or delays in Mike's therapy. That is what we all needed to hear. I hope he is back at it asap. The new chair sounds incredibly spiffy and we'll be seeing it and Mike very soon in the next couple of months. I'll be calling Mike later this week. Love to all - Aunt Nancy

Kim,
Great news all around oabout Mike. Happy he is home and will be able to continue with his therapy. The new chair sounds very versatile and will make things easier for you all and for Mike to maneuver. Wish we could have been at the party. Mike certainly does have many, many people who love and care about him and would do anything to help him. And like Nancy said, we will always be there to support Mike and you all and make sure he gets whatever he needs. Love to everyone and give Mike a huge hug for me.
Love,
Aunt Susan

Thanks for the post Kim! We are so happy to hear that Mike is back at home and adjusting well! We are SO sorry that we were unable to attend the party this weekend, but heard that it was a really good time! It's nice to have Mike back at home so we can visit even more!
All our love,
Crystal & Randy
