Mikes Update

Mike had a bit of a tough day yesterday.  He is still on the breathing/feeding tube but was i little more awaye than he had been, so he was much more aware of the tube in his throat and it was pretty uncomfortable.  It is also incredibly frustrating for him because he can hear everything around him but of course cannot speak.

I cornerd the Dr yesterday and got him to sit down and discuss his case in detail.  He showed me, Kim and my Mom all the exrays and the  progress Mike has been making.  It is slow but he is improving and the Dr says he will recover. The infection in his blood is the cause of the seriousness of the pneumonia, but that is treatable too.  I made the Dr give me a window of time where he would be on the floor everyday so I could speak directly to him, so we will talk everyday between 1-3.

Mikwe has been really upset about his wound regressing too.  I spoke to both his urologis and Wound Care Specialist at NRH and Georgetown and they are on the case making sure the people here are doing the right thing.  That really put him at ease.  By the time I left at 7 last night he was calm and resting.  although he was pretty groggy he gave me a hug and when I said I will see him in the morning, he nodded.

Update on Mike

Mike is still in ICU and his condition has worsened.  His left lung continued to get worse and started to collapse, so the have him on a ventilator and asleep.  They have suctioned the fluids out and are watching him really closely now.  He will probably be asleep for a few days so that he can recover and give his body and lung a chance to rest. Also to be sure the antibiotics have a chance to take hold so that he does not have a relapse.

I will keep everybody posed as the days go by.

Mike In the Hospital

Mike went into the hospital llast night becuase he was really confused and having a hard time waking up and having a clear head.  It turned out he had very bad pneumonia in his left lung. Most likely a result of his surgery on Tuesday and the anesthesia and breathing tube.

He is at Shady Grove in the ICU Room 7.

The number to the nursed station at his room is 240-826-6396.

I will keep everyone posted

Mike In The Hospital

Mike is in the hosptial today for a planned surgery for his kidney stones.  He is in recovery right now after about 3 hours of surgery.  The plan is for him to go home today as long as he doesn't have any autonomic problems. So far so good.  Will post more information after he gets home and is resting.
