Mike's 28th Birthday

Today is Mike's Birthday and he'll be celebrating this afternoon and into the evening! The plan for now is shopping at Bass Pro Shops with dad, going to Pete's around 3pm or so for a beer, and then heading home to hang out! If you would like to stop by Pete's or the house, please give him a call, or just call to wish him a great birthday!

Hope to see some of you later! and Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Mike was told yesterday that her should be able to come home today! Hopefully this will happen. He is anxious to get back to his routine.

Mike will be at Shady Grove all weekend. Please stop by if you can and see him. He is in Room 402 on the 4th floor. He is still doing better, but they are keeping him there to make sure his pnuemonia clears up before he comes home.

Mike still at Shady Grove

Mike has been moved to another room where he can be even more closely monitored. His pnuemonia is improving, but slowly and they want to make sure his lungs are clear before he goes home. We're hoping he will be home by the weekend.

Remember the Poker Run is this Saturday and ends at the Middlebrook Inn in Germantown. There is not a set time, althught we anticipate the late afternoon is a good bet. This part of the fundraiser is NOT just for motorcucle riders and everyone is encouraged to come and eat and drink and have fun! Please call me at 240-731-4775 of red at 240-988-6573 during the afternoon if you want to come by and need to know the time to do so!

doing better today

According to our mom, Mike seems to much more comfortable today. They have his pain managed and he ate breakfast and lunch. The doctor listened to his chest and said it sounded clearer which means the meds are working. They do a chest x-ray later to make sure it is improving. His respiratory therapy also helped him to "cough up" some of the congestion today. Mike has been great at telling the nurses just what he needs and they are happy to oblige which makes him feel better about being there. We're not sure when he'll come home yet, but PROBABLY tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and well wishes.

Bummer

I wanted to let you all know Mike caught a case of the flu that everyone seems to be getting. We were warned about his condition making him a likely target for pnumonia becsuae of how different is breathing is now and the fact he can't cough with the force the rest of us can to get the junk out of his lungs. Unfortunatley I had to bring him to the ER last night at 2AM and it turns out he does have it in both lungs. They admitted him and he is now at Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville. Look slike he will be there for at least a few.

Family and Friends,

I want to thank all of those that have donated their time, money, sweat and hard work to helping me in my journey to recovery. From the money that has been brought in through fundraising events, to the amazing men and woman that dedicated their time, materials, and expertise to the house renovations. Your generosity is appreciated more then words can express.

The lift in my house is complete now and I would like to ask my family and friends for assistance in making it mine. I would like to cover the inside walls with pictures, and eventually have everyone sign the wall too. Please send pictures so that I can start covering the walls with great memories!

Love,
Gotz

P.S. single ladies, you are welcomed and encouraged to stop by any time... no call needed.

Gotz Strength Golf Tournament, Huge Success

As any of you who attended know, the Golf Tournament was a huge success!!! Thanks to the hard work of all of the people who made it happen, especially Shannon, Crystal, and the Crooks. Also a special thanks to all of the Sponsors who participated and Rattlewood Country Club. And of course all of Mike's friends who attended. The generousity of all of the people involved in this benefit as well as past ones continues to leave us, Mike's family in awe and we thank you. All of your hard work and donations produced $7128.00 for the Michael H Gotzens Foundation. Now Mike can look to adding the very important elevation option on his custom wheelchair that is being built and can start looking into hiring a PCA (Personal Care Assistant) to assist with his every day needs, neither of which insurance would pay for.

On a separate note, the foundation recieved a significant donation from SOS of Albuquerque, NM. Mike's Gandfather works there. The Office Manager, Lynn seems to have been the catalyst for several types of donations since Mikes accident and we are gratefull.

Again, we are gratefull to EVERY person who has become involved in the Foundation and it's goal to make Mike's hard road ahead as easy as possible. He has so much now that he never would have had and these things have helped make his revovery easier to manage.

A progress report.... Mike's Grandfather and I made lunch for Mike, a sandwich on a large hard roll. He managed to hold it in both his hands and eat the whole thing, with no help!!!
