Mikes Update

Mike had a bit of a tough day yesterday.  He is still on the breathing/feeding tube but was i little more awaye than he had been, so he was much more aware of the tube in his throat and it was pretty uncomfortable.  It is also incredibly frustrating for him because he can hear everything around him but of course cannot speak.

I cornerd the Dr yesterday and got him to sit down and discuss his case in detail.  He showed me, Kim and my Mom all the exrays and the  progress Mike has been making.  It is slow but he is improving and the Dr says he will recover. The infection in his blood is the cause of the seriousness of the pneumonia, but that is treatable too.  I made the Dr give me a window of time where he would be on the floor everyday so I could speak directly to him, so we will talk everyday between 1-3.

Mikwe has been really upset about his wound regressing too.  I spoke to both his urologis and Wound Care Specialist at NRH and Georgetown and they are on the case making sure the people here are doing the right thing.  That really put him at ease.  By the time I left at 7 last night he was calm and resting.  although he was pretty groggy he gave me a hug and when I said I will see him in the morning, he nodded.

Jeff,

Thank you for the update!! I have been thinking of Mike constantly and hate to hear that he is back in the hospital dealing with this. It is comforting to hear that the doctors are keeping a close eye on him and his progress and that they have made time to speak directly with you about what is going on. Please give Mike a big hug and kiss for me and let him know that we (Yves and I) are thinking of him. I hope they are able to remove the breathing tube soon so that he can be a little more comfortable! Nothing but love and well wishing going out to Mike!!

Yes, Robin. It is so difficult to hear what Mike is unfairly having to deal with, The kidney procedure had gone so well just over a week ago - then, to have this serious complication occur... Jean has been keeping us up to date too, but thanks for posting this report. Prayers are being said that Mike recovers fully and quickly - and even by the Red Sox opener this Friday. We love you, Mike - Aunt Nancy

Thank you Jeff, for asking questions and keeping these doctors accountable. I am thinking of Mike every day. I know he will get through this, I'm just sorry he has to deal with it at all. The sooner that breathing tube comes out the better...I know Mike would rather be able to speak up for himself!
