What's new...

Mike and dad bought a cabin about a month ago in West Virginia. They have been up for a visit almost every weekend to relax, and start fixing it up to meet Mike's needs and with supplies. They are both very happy about habving a place on the river to enjoy!
Mike's health has been great! The wound on his back is pretty much completely healed and although there is another small one on the back of his ankle, we feel we have this under control. The visiting nurse still comes to check on him once a month as well. He is gaining weight-he thinks too much!- and has more energy to ride over to the shopping center across the street for his sugar free Red Bulls and shopping trips to Home Depot.
A couple of weeks ago, he caught his first fish and completed staining a cabinet for the garage for him to keep his stuff in.
In February, NRH takes an annual ski trip for SCI patients and their physical therapists and he plans to attend! He continues to go to Orioles games with dad, including one this Sunday vs. the Red Sox (we all know who he's cheering for!).

Next Saturday is the first annual Gotz Strength for Spinal Cord Injury Motorcycle Poker Run! we're excited that Mike will be able to come out and enjoy the people, bikes, and beer and we hope it will be a great turnout!

Laslty, Mike is happy that our little sister Erin has chosen a career path! We're so excited that she just enrolled in the Dental Assistant Training School and will become certified to help fix your teeth in 11 weeks. Go Booger!!

Great news all around!!! That's great about the cabin, it must be nice to have a place to escape to once in a while. I'm glad to hear that Mike is getting out more and gaining his independence. Yves and I hope to visit soon.

Erin, congrats! Wishing you all the best.

Love to all,
Robin

So happy that Mike is the proud owner of his cabin in W. VA. He was always talking about that is what he wanted, and now it's a reality. I'm sure he is very happy to go there and enjoy doing what he loves. The best news though is that Mike's health is great and he's getting around and doing so much. And going on a ski trip!! Wow. He's come such a long way in a year. So proud of him, and makes me so happy that he is happy and doing well. Love to all, and best of luck to Erin and her dental assistant training. That's good for her! - Aunt Susan

This sure is a great post! All good news. Mike has set so many goals - and is reaching all of them one by one. We saw photos of the cabin and the land - perfect for lovers of the great outdoors (there will be many more fish caught). (Mike is certainly one of them). Congratulations, Mike, on getting the place you've always dreamed of. The Sox game yesterday, I think, proved that they are well on their way to another Championship. Hope too that the 1st Annual Motorcycle Poker match is great fun and successful. We are so happy that Mike's health strong and his independence growing (watch out in February on those ski slopes!). I have a feeling that Mike will master that in no time too. And he must be very happy for Erin - a great field to enter (she will be great at it). Love to ALL - Nancy
