Update

Today Mike was taken to Washington Hospital Center in DC for symptoms of severe sweats, headache, and just not feeling well. Because of complications which could occur due to his bed sore and another infection (I forget the medical term), dad thought it best to get him to the experts for evaluation. After a blood test and x-ray, it was discovered that there was no infection of the bone or skin from the bed sore, but that Mike's calcium levels were really high. He was admitted, and they are running further tests to determine the cause.

This is considered a positive hospital stay even though it is not what we want, because a wound care specialist and surgeon will now see him tomorrow about his bed sore, instead of at the end of the month. We hope to have a more clear picture of Mike's status and proposed treatment tomorrow.

I'm glad that Red decided to take him in and that now he will get his bed sore looked at sooner than later.

Best wishes for a fast recovery Mikey:)

Love you,

Your Mom had brought the family in Boston up to date last night, Kim - and thanks for this posting. I heard this morning that after Mike was settled into his room and on IV's, that he seemed better - and that an MRI is scheduled for today. I agree that your Dad's decision to get him to the experts was a wise one. Mike will be back on track soon once his complications are treated, and he is in our prayers 24/7. You all take care of yourselves - LOVE - Aunt Nancy

Sorry about another hospitalization for Mike. It's a good thing that Jeff took him. His symptoms were worrisome, but now that they know it's from high calcium levels, they can treat it. And having the bed sore evaluated now is good news instead of waiting til the end of the month. I hope these setbacks will stop since they must be very discouraging for Mike. You're all in our thoughts and prayers constantly. Love to Mike.
