Latest News

Mike has been doing well over thepast week and his spirits have been high for the most part. He finally got back into the regular gym yesterday and had a good workout. We hope he continues to be able to go there everday now so he can catch up on some of his workouts. He still has some issues with pain where his injury is , and they are trying to manage that but it's a roller coaster because they are also concerned that changing up on meds may effect his progress with the C-Diff. All in all though, things are progressing well. He has been outside more lately and is really getting too good at his chair. He has moved from the turtle setting to the rabbit one and left us all in the dust in the lobby this past weekend!! He makles me nervouse on that thing.. I am really going to be in for it when he can drive!!

I am going to schedule an overnight to stay in the hospital so I can get a taste of what 24 hours care is. The hospital offers this and I think it's a great idea.

They are talking about doing Mike's surgery for his catheter again this week, maybe Thursday. I'll keep people posted on that.

Thanks to all who have helped sell the wristbands and have given donation.. I have collected $1835 total. There are still funds comming in and we cetainly will need to order a new batch for the Green Turtle day, Golf Tourny and the GotzStrength! Harley Ride.

I'll post again at the end of the week.

Jeff,
Thanks for update on Mike. I'm glad he's back doing more therapy because he wants to get home! Sorry he's still dealing with that infection though. I hope the pain starts subsiding too. I was so happy to hear that he's getting outside alot. That will really help him feel better. And I heard all about his van. It sounds unbelievable, but Mike deserves the very best. I would be nervous too watching him speed around in his chair! But it's Mike, so of course he's gonna push it. Good luck with your overnight stay. Mike is in good hands. You have all been wonderful. Nancy and Ray really enjoyed their visit with Mike. Tommy is just about finished with house drawings and will send them by end of week. Love to all.

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the updates. It is great to read that Mike is stepping it up a notch with his new chair. I understand your nervousness though and am sure Mike is in total control. Also glad to hear that the fundraisers are going well...almost $2,000 already. That's not bad for a little over 3 weeks. We are still collecting donations here in MA and will be sending some more yourway soon. Please send my love to Mike and tell him to keep working hard. Hope to see everyone again soon!

Ray and I are so happy to have spent lots of time with Mike this weekend - We honestly did not want to leave and found it hard to do so. Mike is the best company in the world - and it was a privilege to try and help out with some tasks; Mike is a very good teacher (we started calling him "the director), and we learned a lot from him. We are so impressed with how Mike is managing everything - including keeping that handsome smile on his face - and putting a smile onto ours. We talked about everything (and Mike remembers to ask about everyone and everything!) There is more work to do - and no one is up for that more than Mike is. It was so wonderful to see him back in the gym, to hear that the And we were lucky to get to see the spiffy new van - really great! We were also so pleased with the NRH facility and beautiful grounds and top staff. Mike is ready to get the catheter surgery done and get to the bottom, once and for all, of his infection. And we got a glimpse of Tom's plans for the house renovation and heard more about the work and those folks who will be doing it. And staying involved with the ongoing fundraising (which is certainly going well). For now, we will help from a distance with anything that needs help - and then look forward to getting back to see Mike as soon and as often as possible. And to learning as much as possible about Mike's injury and ongoing care. Best to you and the family with the overnights. WE LOVE YOU MIKE. - Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ray

WOW, Mike likes to go fast:) He truly believes that if you are not first, you're last!!!
I'm so glad to hear things are going well and its good news that they are planning on doing the surgery this week.
Its truely amazing how much money you have already collected, and that has just begun. The overwhelming support that local businesses, friends and family are willing to donate is amazing, it truly shows how much love everyone has for Mikey!

We love you boy!
