I just got off the phone with my dad and Mike is out of surgery. He did really well and has been transferred to the "step down" bed we've been waiting for on the 11th Floor. He also does not have to wear the huge shoulder, neck, back, chest brace-he will only need the neck brace he had on originally. I'm not sure for how long yet. He is in recovery for the next couple of hours and our mom and dad are going to collect all of his wonderful items from friends and family. Thank you to everyone for all of your thoughts today as we completed another step in this journey! Mike could not have done it without all of you and especially the constant love, support, and bedside care of our wonderful parents!

THE BEST NEWS on Mike. Another successful surgery as Mike continues a strong recovery. He is simply amazing - as is his whole family. And no more larger brace - how wonderful is THAT! Thanks for the happy update Kim. We love you all!!!
I am SO happy to hear surgery went well today! I have been thinking of Mike all day and checking the blog for updates. Kim, your postings have truly helped everyone near and far stay close to Mike and his progress...thank you very much for that! Be sure to pass along my well wishes to Mike and let your parents know I am thinking of them as well. With a strong family behind him and Mike's ever impressive outlook I know he will pull through this.

This is truly wonderful news, we are so glad to hear that the surgery went well- Mike is such a soldier and we are so proud of his strength and spirit.

Thats right Mike, glad to hear surgery went well eventhough I am sure you were not looking forward to it. We have a lot of years of hunting and fishing left to do so keep up the hard work. Taylor and I miss you more everyday and can not wait to get you back up the road. All your amazing family and friends are lucky to have you in our lives and need a lot more of you.
